| Logs of Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla). A lot of new woodworkers think this comes from the U.S., but it's actually a Central and South American wood. Several types of mahogany exist around the world, including the ever popular African variety and the stuff otherwise known as Luan from the Philippines. However, the "prized" mahogany comes out of Latin America and goes by the botanical name Swietenia macrophylla. |
