| The waste pile of a sawmill in the Yucatan of Mexico. Those billets of mahogany and utterly useless for flooring, furniture and the like because they are the very center of the log; also called the pith. There was a Lowe's commercial some time ago that touted "prime lumber, center cut" which cracked me up. "Center cut" lumber in the literal sense is . . . shit. Anyway, these billets will work as chocks, blocks, dry sticks, etc. around the mill. The rest will be burned. |
